Yeah, “Maverick” is pretty great. It was written by William Goldman (“The Princess Bride”, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”, “Marathon Man”, etc) and directed by Richard Donner (“Superman”, “Goonies”, etc), so that’s a great combo. Mel Gibson is pretty darned charming, as is the rest of the cast, including awesome Canadian Graham Greene. I highly recommend it.

TIFF is happenin’ ’round here, but I haven’t gone to see anything. My workplace is one of the major centres, so there are long lines and pretty people all over the place. I was hoping to spot Benedict Cumberbatch wandering around, but I didn’t want to seek him out.

Google Led You Here: “cinema bums : – )” Much obliged for the smiley face, Internet Searcher.

What’s the Joke, Projectionist? Doug worries that “Maverick” might be retroactively sexist/anti-Semitic, but either becomes distracted, or decides that’s not the case.
