Break Out the Razor
Well, Movember is behind us, and that means it’s time to look ahead to the Holiday Movie Season. During this special time at the cinemas, we get a combination of Academy Award bait, Christmas-themed kids’ fare and trailers making heavy use of “The Nutcracker Suite”.
If you’re not interested in dealing with the crowds at the movie theatres this holiday season, at least take the time to pop in a classic holiday movie on the DVD/Blu Ray player. We will likely be featuring some comics with a holiday theme in the coming month. In particular, I can guarantee that the following flicks will be watched at least once: “Miracle on 34th Street” (the original, obviously), “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Muppet Christmas Carol” (mentioned previously). If circumstances permit, I’m also a big fan of “Scrooged”.
Any particular holiday favourites out there? I know “A Christmas Story” is considered by many to be a classic, but I can’t really get into it. I never really cared for the main character, and thus his Red Ryder quest never seemed to matter. I’m not soulless, however. I see the comic value of having one’s tongue frozen to a metal pole.

That “Like” button needs love. It shouldn’t be alone over the holidays.

I always watched “A Christmas Story” and “Scrooged” and we also did the “Christmas with the Duke” 24 hour special on TBS. “The Santa Clause” (the original one) was great and my family particularly loved “Bad Santa” (not recommended for children at all lol).
I find I can’t stand the wonderful life and miracle ones.
I thought “The Santa Clause” was decent. I haven’t had a chance to see “Bad Santa”. “Miracle on 34th Street” is very accessible and sweet. Worth another look if you’ve got the time.
Gremlins. Best Christmas movie ever.
I see your “Gremlins” and raise you “Die Hard”.
No, sorry, gotta give that one to Gremlins. Phoebe Cates FTW.
